What is Software as a Service(SaaS)?
Software as a Service, shortly SaaS, is defined as a software delivery model in
which software and associated data are centrally hosted on the cloud. SaaS is one
of the whole cloud computing system platforms which provides access to software
and its functions remotely as Web-based services and Web applications. SaaS can
provide high performance of the business functionality with much lower cost than
the traditional computer applications or systems. Because the software is hosted
remotely, users don't need to invest in additional hardware to get the necessary
services. SaaS removes the need for organizations to handle the installation, set-up
and the daily maintenance. To build a SaaS platform, which could provide the necessary
services to data acquisition, monitoring and control systems, we will actually develop
the internet accessible applications and services which can provide the web or cloud
services to satisfy the client demands:
1. Provide web service which can automatically receive
data from the remote data
acquisition site.
2. Develop a web application it will be the interface of
the reports to the clients.
3. Create web or server services to support the data process or analysis and
generate the report.
This SaaS platform will show you the basic idea and methodologies which have been
successfully used in the Intelligent Highway System.
Architecture of a Test Cloud Data Acquisitio and Control System
A typical data acquistion, monitoring and controll system should at least include
the following parts:
- Analog/digital sensors.
- Control devices.
- Gateway
- WiFi Rutor
- Cloud SaaS
The right figure shows a test system that built with Netduino Plus 2.
Cloud Data & File Process Services
- 2D data (dat file)real-time process.
- Real-time video streaming services.
- Simulation model(3dx)file process and user services.
- Image file process and user services.
